Koreans Americans for Political Action Announces Endorsement Of Annie Cho for California State Assembly
Washington, DC. February 8, 2022 – The Board of Directors of Korean Americans for Political Action today announces that KAPA is endorsing Annie Cho for California State Assembly District 40.
Cho has been actively involved in the Korean American community in the Los Angeles area for over 50 years since immigrating to the US in 1971. Her first foray as a community activist was when she volunteered to work on the Free Cho Soo Lee Defense committee that was setup to help get Lee off of death row and out of prison. Lee was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1973 and sentenced to life in prison.
In addition to securing several appointments over the years, including as a commissioner of the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power, Cho is active with several grassroots groups focused on mental health, women empowerment, and diversity.
“Annie is a very visible figure in the Korean American community in Los Angeles and has dedicated her life to helping the Korean American community in so many ways. She has been a small business owner, hosted a weekly Korean language public affairs show called, ”LA Seoul” for which she was nominated for a local Emmy Award just to name a few,” said John Lim, Chairman of the Board.
“I am pleased that we are offering our endorsement of Annie because the Korean American community will benefit from her being elected to the Assembly by having another voice at the state level. I have known Annie for some time and appreciate her service on boards such as the Korean Youth & Community Center, Korean American Scholarship Foundation, and the Korean Federation of LA.,” added Hon. Sukhee Kang, Vice Chair of the Board and former Mayor of Irvine.
